Dionaea muscipula or Venus Flytrap
Venus flytrap
Dionaea muscipula, commonly called the Venus Flytrap, Venus Fly Trap, or VFT is found naturally in the coastal plain of southeastern North Carolina and northeastern South Carolina. The plant is surprisingly adaptable considering its narrow distribution in the wild. It can be grown in outdoor bogs even in Canada if you know how to create the right conditions. It also makes a great house plant with supplemental lighting. No terrarium is needed.
CARE
- VFT loves bright sunlight. Ideally indirect in UAE. Do not place it outside in summer.
- The pot with the plant must always be sitting in pure water. It likes water with low TDS, If the TDS is higher than 100, use distilled, reverse osmosis, or clean rainwater.
- Do not fertilize VFTs. If the plant is not catching its own food, it needs to be fed in the traps with live insects, rehydrated dried blood worms, or other kinds of fish food high in insect-derived protein that can be conveniently rehydrated. If you use dead food, the traps need to be massaged to stimulate full closure and digestion

Drocera aliciae or Alice Sundew
Drosera capensis or Cape Sundew
Drosera capensis, commonly called Cape Sundew is one of the easiest of all carnivorous plants to grow. It is medium-size with long strap-like leaves, loaded with red tentacles. It has a nice overall green and red appearance and glistens brightly in the sunlight. Insects are lured to the plant and get mired in the sticky dew of the tentacles. The leaves slowly roll over on to the prey in about 30 minutes, creating an effective digestive pouch around the victim.

Drosera paradoxa or petiolaris-complex
Sundew of the petiolaris complex need very hot, humid and lots of direct sun during the summer. This is the period in which they grow the most. In winter they keep to 18 degrees and slow down growth. Better to keep them with artificial lamps and during this dormancy period you leave the pot almost completely dry, otherwise the plant could rot.

Sarracenia or American Pitchers
Sarracenias or American Pitchers
Sarracenia or North American pitcher plants, grow naturally along the US Gulf Coast and up the East Coast to Canada. Their pitcher-shaped leaves trap insects with nectar, causing them to fall inside. The smooth walls prevent escape, and as the insects decompose, the plant absorbs nutrients for growth.

Sarracenia pinguicula
Butterworts, like Sarracenia pinguicula, may seem innocent with their glossy, low leaves and pretty flowers. But don’t be fooled—these plants are carnivorous. Their leaves trap tiny insects in sticky slime, where they meet their end and become food for the plant.

Sarracenia purpurea, the North American pitcher plants, are native to the US Gulf and East Coast states, including parts of Canada. Their pitcher-shaped leaves attract insects with nectar along the rim. Once inside, insects can’t escape due to the smooth walls and lack of airflow. As they decompose, the plant absorbs valuable nutrients from them.
