Terminalia catappa or Indian Almond Tree شجرة اللوز الهندية is dense, spreading, deciduous tree, the branches of young specimens forming horizontal whorls. Broadly obovate to obovate, lustrous, dark green leaves, to 25cm long, borne in rosette-like clusters at the branch tips, turn red before falling. Petalless flowers have white calyces, with tubes to 1cm long, and are borne in axillary spikes, to 16cm long, in summer; they are followed by narrowly winged, ellipsoid, red, yellow, or green fruit, 5-7cm long, with edible seeds.
