Chrysalidocarpus is also know as Areca Palm, Butterfly Palm or Golden Cane Palm.
CARE
- Water enough to keep the soil moist in spring and summer, and allow the soil to dry between waterings in fall and winter.
- Fertilize Areca palm with a time-release fertilizer in spring. Gives plant most of the nutrients it needs for the entire season.
- Spray micronutrient in summer. You can use a liquid houseplant fertilizer that contains micronutrients for this purpose.
- Areca palm needs repotting every two to three years. The plant likes a tight container.

Chrysalidocarpus lutescens
Chrysalidocarpus lutescens is also know as Areca Palm, Butterfly Palm, Golden Cane Palm, Madagascar Palm. Small palm with clustered stems, at first covered with yellow leaf bases. The leaves, 1-2m long, have numerous slender, lance-shaped, usually yellow-green leaflets. In summer, bears yellow flowers in panicles to 60cm long. Height 9m, Spread 6m. Native to Madagascar.

Humidity: Can tolerate some dry indoor air, but does better with a little extra humidity and likes occasional misting with lukewarm water. Brown leaf tips are an indication that the plant is not getting enough humidity.
Feed: Feed with a weak solution every few weeks during the growing season. Do not feed during the winter.
